Bring Your Pet
Deciding to enter treatment and embark on recovery is a life-changing step. But what happens if you own a pet? Understandably, you may feel worried about leaving your furry or feathery friend at home.
At NEOVIVA, we deeply empathise with the bond you share with your pets and understand the potential positive impact they can have on your recovery. As fellow animal lovers, we recognise that pets are more than just companions, they are part of the family, and that’s why, wherever possible, we’ll make it as easy as possible for you to bring your loyal companion with you.

“If pet ownership was a medication, it would be patented tomorrow.”
(Edward Creagan, Mayo Clinic)
To support you in this important phase of your life, we are happy to consult with you about how your pet can accompany you during your stay. This consultation will involve discussing your pet’s needs, the responsibilities associated with them, and any potential challenges. If you would like to bring your furry or feathered family member with you, please get in touch with us for more detailed information.
How to bring your pet
Bringing your dog to NEOVIVA
Everything about the way we treat addiction is carefully considered to optimise your successful recovery. We realise that having your four-legged companion close by during your stay has multiple benefits, so we would love to welcome your dog to NEOVIVA when you enter one of our treatment programmes.
To ensure you still get the best from the recovery process, we ask that:
- Your dog is over 6 months old
- Your dog is fully house-trained, appropriately restrained, and comfortable being alone in your room
And that,
- You are responsible for your dog’s food, feeding, and cleaning up after them
During your stay, your dog is allowed in the hotel rooms, restaurant, common and outdoor areas, and on NEOVIVA’s premises. Your dog is also welcome to accompany you during your one-to-one sessions and, if other participating clients agree, at group sessions.
There will, however, undoubtedly be times when your furry companion will have to spend some time alone in your room. We are happy to arrange a dog-walking and sitting service at additional costs.
Veterinary certificates confirming up-to-date vaccinations and flea and worm treatments are also required. For more information about the rules regarding pets and to view our pet agreement, please get in touch with us.

Your companion for treatment
We know that sharing life with a pet has been linked to numerous health benefits, and in stressful times, their presence can be an invaluable source of comfort. While most people might first think of dogs when the topic of pets participating in recovery is raised, other animals, such as horses or cats, can also help to restore balance and strength during the treatment process.
Evidence-based research shows that having pets …
- Reduces stress and anxiety – pets boost serotonin and dopamine, making you feel better.
- Improves cardiovascular health – your animals get you moving, lowering blood pressure and cholesterol.
- Provides emotional support – pets offer comfort and stability, aiding mental health recovery.
- Facilitates social interaction – having a pet helps you connect with others, reducing loneliness.
- Offers routine and structure – looking after your beloved pet adds structure to your day, giving you a sense of purpose.
Our animals, caring for you
There are several reasons why it may not be possible for you to bring your pet to NEOVIVA. For example, certain dog breeds are not allowed in Switzerland. For whatever reason, if it is not possible for you to bring your pet with you, we have our own amazing crew of animals who you are most welcome to enjoy the company of.
