Family Programme

The Importance of Family

Living with a family member or partner who struggles with addiction can put a strain on the family system and cause distress for everyone involved. The more closely intertwined your lives are, the more devastating the effects of addiction can be. It has been proven that the risk of relapse decreases if people in recovery can rely on a network of people at home who understand the treatment process. Positive support from a loving partner or family can be a crucial help and resource. At NEOVIVA we involve family and close relations throughout the process and invite them to become part of the solution by attending our family treatment.

Education

It is common for partners or family members to face a mountain of questions and overwhelming concerns. Ignorance can be dangerous, especially when dealing with legal and readily available drugs such as alcohol or prescription medication. NEOVIVA provides expert support and information on what your relative or partner is going through in treatment, how to help them and how to manage your own journey through the recovery process.

Through participation in our family programme and events, you will learn about

  • addiction
  • coping skills
  • interacting with the person who has an addiction problem
  • having hope and confidence in the recovery process

Family Therapy Sessions

All family therapy sessions are supported and coordinated by an expert NEOVIVA professional. During this time, you will participate in group and individual sessions with and without your loved one. Families and partners will learn:

  • to identify relational patterns and explore the different family roles and rules that lead to conflict
  • explore ways of communicating emotions and thoughts productively and healthily
  • bring clarity to relationship dynamics and create an opportunity for strengthening connections and rebuilding trust
